Pakistani onyx and marble for Gulf fit-out projects
Short answer
Pakistan is a known source of green onyx and white marble for fit-out work, including Ziarat white marble from Balochistan. Light green onyx is translucent, which makes it a common choice for backlit walls, bars and reception desks. SilkStone Trading supplies onyx, marble and granite from Pakistan as slabs, cut-to-size tiles and blocks, and ships FOB Karachi or CIF Jebel Ali, with photos or video of the actual numbered slabs for you to approve before anything is cut.
Is Pakistani onyx good for backlit walls?
Yes, light green onyx from Pakistan is translucent, so light passes through it and shows the veining, which is why it's used for backlit walls, bars and counters. How much light comes through varies slab to slab, so judge the actual slabs rather than a sample tile. Onyx is more fragile than most marble, so slabs for backlit panels are often backed with resin and mesh. Tell us the stone is for a backlit feature when you ask for slab photos.
Green onyx: light and multicolor
Pakistani green onyx comes mainly from Balochistan and is sold in a light green and a multicolor version with stronger bands of color. We supply both, polished or honed, with resin and mesh backing optional.
Ziarat white marble
Ziarat white is a white marble from the Ziarat area of Balochistan. We supply it polished, honed or leathered. Other Pakistani marbles and granites are available on request; send the name or a photo.
Finishes and thickness
- Onyx: polished or honed. Resin and mesh backing optional.
- Marble: polished, honed or leathered.
- Granite: polished, honed, flamed or leathered.
- Thickness: 18, 20 or 30 mm.
- Formats: slabs, tiles cut to size and blocks.
How to avoid surprises on site
Natural stone varies from block to block, so approve the actual slabs, not a showroom sample. We send photos or video of the numbered slabs in the color and size you need, and the slabs you approve are the ones that get cut and crated. A BOQ, a drawing or a phone photo of the stone your designer picked is enough to start.
Shipping to Jebel Ali and other Gulf ports
Stone ships from Karachi in fumigated wooden crates and bundles. We quote FOB Karachi or CIF Jebel Ali and other Gulf ports, and US ports. Before loading, the crates are inspected against the approved slabs, and you're welcome to send your own inspector, for example SGS or Bureau Veritas. You get photos of the loaded container, a certificate of origin and a packing list.
